Prunus laurocerasus (Cherry Laurel) is a fast-growing evergreen shrub with large, glossy dark green leaves that create a dense, lush hedge or screen. It is widely used for privacy planting due to its thick, reliable coverage and year-round foliage.
Hardy and easy to grow, it tolerates a wide range of soils and conditions, including shade and urban environments. It can reach a mature height of around 5–8 metres, but is commonly clipped and maintained at 1.5–3 metres for hedging.
