Betula utilis - White-stem birch

Betula utilis var. jacquemontii, commonly known as the White-Stem Birch or Himalayan Birch, is one of the finest ornamental trees available, celebrated for its brilliant white bark, elegant upright form and outstanding year-round appeal. A favourite among garden designers, it creates a stunning focal point in gardens, parks and contemporary landscapes.Fresh green leaves emerge in spring, forming a light, airy canopy that gently filters sunlight throughout the summer. In autumn, the foliage turns a beautiful buttery yellow before falling to reveal the tree's spectacular chalk-white bark, which becomes increasingly vivid as the tree matures. Slender catkins appear in spring, adding further seasonal interest while attracting bees and other pollinators. The White-Stem Birch thrives in most well-drained soils and performs best in full sun or partial shade. It is equally impressive as a single specimen or planted in groups or as a multi-stem tree, where its brilliant white trunks create a striking winter display.
