Mahonia bealei (Leatherleaf Mahonia) is a bold, evergreen shrub with large, spiny, leathery leaves that provide strong architectural structure year-round. In late winter to early spring, it produces upright clusters of fragrant yellow flowers, followed by blue-black berries.
Hardy and low maintenance, it thrives in partial to full shade and well-drained soil. It typically reaches a mature height of around 2–4 metres, making it ideal for shaded borders, woodland gardens, or as a structural feature plant.
