Fagus sylvatica (European Beech) is a large deciduous tree known for its smooth grey bark, dense canopy, and rich green foliage that turns golden-bronze in autumn. It is widely used for hedging, screening, and as a long-lived feature tree in landscapes and parks.
Hardy and slow-growing but long-lived, it thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-drained soils. It typically reaches a mature height of around 20–35 metres, making it suitable for large gardens, estates, and woodland planting.
