Malus floribunda - Flowering crab apple

Malus floribunda, commonly known as the Flowering Crab Apple, is one of the finest ornamental flowering trees, celebrated for its spectacular spring blossom, colourful ornamental fruits and outstanding autumn foliage. Perfect for gardens, parks and avenues, it provides year-round beauty while offering exceptional value for wildlife. In spring, the tree is covered with masses of deep pink buds that open into beautiful fragrant white flowers with a delicate blush of pink. These nectar-rich blooms attract bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects. During autumn, the flowers are replaced by abundant clusters of small yellow and crimson-red crab apples, which persist well into winter and provide a valuable food source for birds. The attractive green foliage turns brilliant shades of golden yellow, orange and bronze before falling. Compact, hardy and easy to grow, Malus floribunda thrives in fertile, well-drained soils and performs best in full sun. Its graceful spreading habit makes it an excellent specimen tree for lawns, borders and wildlife-friendly gardens.
