Magnolia 'Susan'

Magnolia 'Susan' is a stunning compact deciduous magnolia, admired for its elegant tulip-shaped flowers and long flowering season. Perfect for smaller gardens, patios and feature planting, this beautiful ornamental tree produces an abundance of deep pinkish-purple blooms that create a spectacular spring display. Flowering begins in mid to late spring, slightly later than many other magnolias, helping to avoid damage from late frosts. The fragrant flowers open from slender buds into graceful goblet-shaped blooms with rich purple-red outer petals and paler pink interiors. Fresh green leaves emerge shortly after flowering, forming a dense canopy throughout summer before turning soft golden-yellow in autumn. Compact, hardy and easy to grow, Magnolia 'Susan' thrives in fertile, moist but well-drained soils and performs best in full sun or partial shade in a sheltered position. Its manageable size and outstanding floral display make it an excellent choice for gardens where space is limited.
