Carpinus orientalis (Oriental Hornbeam) is a hardy deciduous tree or large shrub with finely toothed green leaves that provide a light, textured appearance through spring and summer before turning yellow in autumn. It naturally forms a dense, multi-stemmed habit, making it useful for screening, hedging, or structural planting.
Very tough and adaptable, it thrives in full sun to partial shade and tolerates dry, poor soils once established. It typically reaches a mature height of around 5–10 metres, making it suitable for medium-scale landscape use and naturalistic planting schemes.
